What Is an Outpatient Program?

Recovery support that fits into your life, not the other way around.

Our Outpatient Program (OP) provides ongoing clinical support for individuals who are building stability in recovery and no longer need the intensity of PHP or IOP. Treatment frequency and scheduling are determined by clinical recommendation, typically once per week, and adjusted over time based on your progress and needs.

Outpatient care at Shine is not just a maintenance phase. It is an active, structured part of your recovery journey, with continued access to individual therapy, medication management, case management, and holistic programming as clinically appropriate.

OP is ideal for individuals who have completed a higher level of care and are transitioning back into daily life, or for those whose clinical needs can be appropriately met with less frequent support from the start.

Clinically guided

Your schedule and frequency are determined by your clinical team based on your individual needs and progress.

Continuity of care

Stay with the same team who knows your history as you step down from PHP or IOP.

Flexible and ongoing

Adjust the level of support as your recovery evolves over time.

What's Included in Outpatient Care at Shine

Less frequent, but never less serious.

Individual Therapy

Regular one-on-one sessions with your therapist using CBT, DBT, and motivational interviewing to support continued growth and relapse prevention at every stage of recovery.

Medication Management

Ongoing MAT support as clinically appropriate, our psychiatric nurse practitioner monitors and adjusts buprenorphine, Sublocade, Vivitrol, or oral naltrexone prescriptions as your recovery progresses. Methadone is not offered onsite, we coordinate referrals when needed.

Holistic Programming

Continued access to on-site yoga, meditation, and mindfulness as part of your ongoing care plan, supporting the whole-person approach that started in PHP or IOP.

Case Management

Your case manager stays with you through the outpatient phase, connecting you with community resources, employment support, housing assistance, and anything else you need to build a stable life.

Relapse Prevention Planning

Structured relapse prevention work to identify triggers, build coping strategies, and strengthen your recovery plan for the long term.

Evidence-Based Therapies, Rooted in Trauma-Informed Care

The same clinical quality, on a schedule that works for your life.

Whether you are attending once a week or several times per week, the quality and approach of your care at Shine never changes. All outpatient therapy is evidence-based, trauma-informed, and delivered by the same clinical team who knows your history and your goals.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Continues to build the thought patterns and coping skills that support long-term sobriety and lasting change.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

Reinforces emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and mindfulness as recovery deepens over time.

Motivational Interviewing (MI)

Keeps your internal motivation strong through the challenges of early and sustained recovery.

Trauma-Informed Care

Every session remains grounded in a trauma-informed approach, because healing doesn't stop when the intensity does.
