The North Shore has been waiting for something like this. And this fall, it is finally here.
Shine Wellness & Recovery is opening its doors at 605 Broadway, Unit 3A in Saugus, Massachusetts, a community-rooted outpatient addiction treatment center built for the people of the North Shore and the communities around us. Lynn. Revere. Malden. Chelsea. Medford. Everett. And every neighborhood in between.
We are not a corporate chain that opened a location in Saugus. We are a locally founded program that chose to be here, because this is where the need is real, and because we believe every person struggling with addiction deserves access to compassionate, high-quality treatment close to home.
This is our opening announcement. But more than that, it is an introduction. Because before you ever call us, we want you to know who we are.
Shine Wellness & Recovery was founded on a single conviction: that recovery is possible for anyone who is ready to take the next step, and that the quality of treatment someone receives should never depend on their zip code, their language, or their insurance.
Our team includes licensed therapists, a psychiatric nurse practitioner, a medical director, and certified recovery coaches, many of whom have walked this road themselves. We believe lived experience is not a liability in addiction treatment. It is a clinical asset. And it shapes everything about the way we work with the people who come through our door.
All care at Shine is overseen by our medical director and psychiatric nurse practitioner, ensuring clinical integrity across every program and every client interaction.
Our mission: To meet every person who walks through our door exactly where they are, with evidence-based care, genuine human connection, and an unwavering belief that recovery is possible for anyone who is ready to take the next step.
Shine offers three levels of outpatient care, designed to fit your life rather than requiring you to put it on hold.
Our PHP is the most intensive level of outpatient care we offer, six hours per day, five days per week. You attend treatment during the day and return home every evening. No overnight stay. No leaving your life behind.
PHP is designed for individuals who need a high level of structured clinical support, including those stepping down from medical detox or inpatient care, or those whose substance use has significantly impacted their ability to manage daily responsibilities.
Each day in PHP includes individual therapy, group therapy, holistic programming, case management, and where clinically appropriate, medication-assisted treatment, all overseen by our psychiatric nurse practitioner and medical director.
Our IOP provides three hours of structured treatment per day, three to five days per week, with both morning and evening scheduling options available. It is designed for people who need meaningful clinical support while continuing to manage work, school, and family responsibilities alongside treatment.
IOP includes group therapy, individual therapy, holistic programming, case management, and MAT support as clinically appropriate. Morning and evening options mean treatment fits around your life, not the other way around.
Our standard outpatient program provides ongoing clinical support on a schedule determined by your clinical team, typically once per week, as you build stability in recovery and transition back into daily life. It is active, structured care that continues the work begun in more intensive levels of treatment.
MAT is one of the most evidence-based tools available in addiction medicine. At Shine, our psychiatric nurse practitioner can prescribe and manage buprenorphine (Suboxone), Sublocade (monthly injectable buprenorphine), Vivitrol (monthly naltrexone injection), and oral naltrexone as part of a comprehensive treatment plan.
MAT at Shine is always offered as part of a complete program, never as a standalone service, because medication alone is not recovery.
Addiction does not only affect the person using, it affects everyone who loves them. At Shine, family support is built into our clinical model from day one. We offer family education, family therapy sessions, communication guidance, and boundary-setting support for the people who love our clients, because their healing matters too.
Two separate journeys. One shared direction.
Shine provides outpatient treatment for a full range of substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions, including alcohol addiction with medical detox coordination when clinically necessary; heroin and fentanyl addiction with MAT available onsite; cocaine and stimulant addiction with evidence-based behavioral treatment including contingency management; prescription drug addiction covering opioids, stimulants, sleep medications, and non-opioid pain medications; marijuana addiction with CBT, DBT, and relapse prevention tailored to cannabis use disorder; and co-occurring mental health conditions like depression, anxiety, and PTSD, treated simultaneously alongside addiction.
If you are not sure whether what you are dealing with qualifies for treatment, call us. That is what the first call is for.
At Shine, treatment goes beyond talk therapy. Every program integrates the most effective clinical approaches available, delivered through a trauma-informed lens.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) helps clients identify and change the thought patterns and behaviors that drive substance use, building practical, portable skills for managing cravings, triggers, and high-risk situations.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) builds skills in emotional regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness, and interpersonal effectiveness, addressing the emotional drivers of addiction that often go untreated in traditional programs.
Motivational Interviewing (MI) is woven into every level of care at Shine, a collaborative, non-confrontational approach that strengthens each person's own internal motivation and commitment to change.
Relapse Prevention Therapy (RPT) teaches clients to recognize the three stages of relapse, emotional, mental, and physical, and build concrete strategies for each one before they are ever needed.
Holistic Programming, including yoga, meditation, and mindfulness, is delivered onsite as a core part of every program, not an afterthought. Because recovery requires healing the body alongside the mind.
Group Therapy is a cornerstone of every level of care at Shine. Clinically facilitated, evidence-based, and built on the understanding that some things can only happen in a room with people who truly understand what you are going through.
Case Management ensures that the practical dimensions of recovery, FMLA coordination, insurance navigation, discharge planning, housing support, employment assistance, and community resource connection, never become barriers to treatment completion.
The communities we serve, Lynn, Chelsea, Everett, Revere, and the greater North Shore, are home to thousands of Spanish-speaking families. Too many of them have had to navigate addiction treatment in a language that is not theirs.
At Shine, we built bilingual English and Spanish services into our program from day one. Admissions calls, clinical staff, group programming, and family support are all available in Spanish. Because language should never be a barrier to getting help.
Most people have never called a treatment center before. Here is exactly what happens when you call Shine, minute by minute, nothing hidden.
Minutes 0 to 2: We introduce ourselves and listen. No pressure. No script.
Minutes 2 to 5: You tell us what is going on. We ask a few questions to understand your situation.
Minutes 5 to 10: We answer your questions and walk you through your options.
Minutes 10 to 15: Together, we figure out a next step, whether that is scheduling an assessment, verifying insurance, or simply pointing you toward the right resource if we are not the right fit.
The average first call is 10 to 15 minutes. No commitment required. No judgment. Just an honest conversation with a real person.
Addiction treatment is a covered medical benefit under most major insurance plans, including Aetna, Cigna, BlueCross BlueShield, United Healthcare, UMR, and Harvard Pilgrim.
At Shine, we verify your benefits before your first appointment. At no cost to you. No obligation. No surprises. We will tell you exactly what is covered before treatment begins.
If you are uninsured or unsure about your coverage, call us anyway. We will help you understand your options.
Five values shape everything we do at Shine, from the first call to the last session.
Compassion Without Judgment. We meet you where you are. Addiction is a medical condition, not a moral failure.
Radical Honesty. We tell you the truth, even when it is hard. If we are not the right fit, we say so, and help you find what is.
Trauma-Informed Always. Your history matters here. Every interaction at Shine is delivered with an awareness of how trauma shapes substance use.
Family Is Part of Recovery. Separate journeys, healing together. We integrate family because healing happens in relationship, not in isolation.
Community Roots. Built for the North Shore, accountable to it. We are not a chain. We are your neighbors.
